This year, the One & Only begins with Cabernet Franc, the first in a series of limited-production releases to be shared from Neal Family Vineyards. Long valued as one of the great grapes of the world, Cabernet Franc is native to southwestern France and is one of the parent varieties of Cabernet Sauvignon. For Neal Family Vineyards, it also carries personal significance, having played a key role in the Bordeaux blends of past remarkable vintages.
Now bottled on its own, this wine captures Cabernet Franc in its most honest expression. Certified Organically farmed and thoughtfully made from vineyard to bottle, it is a wine of depth, purity, and place.

All the hallmarks of a compelling Cabernet Franc are present in this wine. Deep and densely colored, it shows a youthful purple-vermilion rim that hints at both richness and age-worthy structure.
The aromatics are layered and expressive, opening with floral notes, Black Doris plum, ripe red raspberry, and red currant. As the wine evolves, darker plum tones emerge alongside dried herbs, mint, licorice, oak spice, and a touch of dark chocolate.
On the palate, it is richly textured, balanced, and generous, with flavors of cassis, plum, ripe raspberry, savory herbs, and oak spice unfolding across a long, vibrant finish.

Inspired by his parents’ love story, Mark created the One & Only Collection to celebrate life’s most special moments.
Jack and Athene Neal met on a blind date just before Jack left to serve in the Korean War as a medic. While away, he wrote letters to Athene and signed them, “One & Only Jack.” When he returned home, he went directly to meet her in a hired limo, proposed, and the rest is history.
Together, they built a life in Napa Valley in the early 1960s, creating a home, a family, and a business in Rutherford. They were partners in work and in life, always putting family first and always finding their way back to one another — their own quiet “space between the notes.”
