So WHY is it so important for regenerative to be defined by organic practices? Let’s consider:
🌱Exposure to chemicals like glyphosate and atrazine, commonly used in industrial agriculture, are known endocrine disruptors with the potential to cause cancer in humans.
👉 More than 250 million pounds of glyphosate are applied on crops each year, and the chemical has become ubiquitous in our food supply.
🥕 One study found glyphosate residue in 39 out of 44 restaurant food samples.
💦 And USGS surveys find over 70% of surface water, well water, soil, and rain samples are contaminated with glyphosate or its derivative, AMPA.
🌱Studies show that exposure to pesticides may increase the risk of dementia, Alzheimer’s, cancer, and other chronic conditions that are more prevalent today than ever before.
🌱Nitrate pollution in groundwater can cause restriction of oxygen to the bloodstream, leading to methemoglobinemia, or “blue baby” disease, and infants are most vulnerable.
