OUR FARMING PHILOSOPHY
Our commitment to organic and Biodynamic® farming is personal. For us, it’s synonymous with respecting the land, communities, the health of our children who live on the vineyard properties, and our employees, many of whom have been with us for almost 45 years. Mark has dedicated his life to farming and winemaking that meets these qualifications and is confident that everyone on our team is equally passionate and committed to this way of working.
We are blessed to have such a rooted family history in Napa Valley and have a fundamental respect for the natural resources that surround us, which have been an integral part of the Neal family legacy. Each of the four estate vineyards that produce fruit for the Neal Family Vineyards wine programs are enrolled in the California Certified Organic Farmers certification and will be receiving DemeterⓇ BiodynamicⓇ certification in 2021.
Utilizing over seven decades of organic and BiodynamicⓇ farming practices encourages a dynamic system that promotes all beneficial organisms’ health in the vineyards and the entire property. Mark feels it’s imperative to the soil’s health and to the groundwater that vertebrate and invertebrate life work together to provide the nutrients and disease resistance necessary for healthy, flavorful fruit and the continued health and prosperity of the vineyards and the environment. And, most importantly, so that future generations may continue to enjoy and benefit from healthy soils.
